Professional Learning: Initial Teacher Education and Continued Professional Development

As a school we have a long and successful history of providing training and support for the profession, from initial teacher education through to senior leadership. We are committed to the provision of high quality continuing professional development for teachers and offer a variety of training courses and support under the umbrella of the Cambridge Teaching Schools Network, The Cambridge and Peterborough Teaching School Hub and The Cam Academy Trust.

Our sustained and extensive involvement in Initial Teacher Education includes working with local HEI’s to provide Post Graduate Certificate of Education training through the Schools Direct programme. In addition, we operate a School Direct salaried and non-salaried route into the profession through our SCITT. We have strong partnerships with Cambridge University, Faculty of Education and CTSN.

We have a history of successfully delivering and offering nationally recognised CPD programmes. Currently we offer a number of NPQs, including:

Leading teacher development

Leading teaching

Leading behaviour and culture

Leading literacy

Senior Leadership

We have experienced staff who facilitate and lead many of these courses, including the NPQLT and NPQSL in partnership with our local teaching school hub.

In addition we deliver and offer a fully funded provider led ECF programme to all our ECTs and mentors.  We offer, facilitate and deliver ECF mentor and ECT training in partnership with the local teaching school hub and The Education Development Trust Early Career Professional Development - EDT

We are committed to develop and deliver high quality CPD, which is specifically designed for staff within our Trust.  Our internal offer and entitlement ensure staff can access CPD which is most suitable to them based on their particular need or experience.  The teaching and learning courses are phase specific and ensure that staff develop a range of teaching and learning strategies that have positive short and long term impacts in the classroom.  The courses available are Cover Supervisor, Enhancing Teaching and Learning Assistants (ETLA), Enhancing Teaching and Learning (ETL), Outstanding Teaching and Learning (OTL) and Developing Middle leaders (DML).  In addition to the internal CPD offer the Trust is committed to engage with impactful high quality external CPD.  The Trust will fund the application for the Chartered Candidate from the Chartered College of Teaching.  Staff can complete the Certificate in Evidence informed Practice and may seek to continue their CPD journey by completing the additional units to be awarded Chartered Teacher status (by agreement with their School/Trust)

More information can be found at via the Trust CPD platform.
