Comberton Village College is a highly successful, community mixed comprehensive school with Teaching School status in a pleasant rural setting only 5 miles from the centre of Cambridge. We currently have over 1,800 11-18 year old pupils on roll with a new sixth form centre that opened in September 2011. Our pupils are well motivated, staff morale is excellent and our examination results are outstanding.

Head of KS5 Mathematics

We are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher to develop our leadership capacity within the maths department.

The successful candidate would take a lead with our team of sixth form mathematics teachers.

Attainment in maths is exceptional: 89% of pupils were awarded at least a grade 4 at GCSE, with 40% awarded at least grade 7 and over 10% gaining the highest grade 9.

At KS5, 35% of pupils were awarded at least a grade A and 88% of pupils awarded at least a grade C.

Teaching Assistant - Sixth Form

To work in Comberton Sixth Form with KS5 students with ASC and other SEN, to integrate them into mainstream education and to raise their standard of achievement.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of further education qualifications to work in the Sixth Form. We particularly need the post holder to have a sound knowledge of Mathematics and Science subjects to support A’ level students in these areas.  Confidence with essay writing skills would also be an advantage.

Cover Supervisor - Fixed Term

To supervise classes across the curriculum in following a programme of study during the short-term absence of their class teacher.

Under the direction of the appropriate teacher, supervise pupils in class during the absence of their class teacher. 

Attend staff briefings and whole staff meetings. 

Take class registers, as and when appropriate.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher to develop our leadership capacity within the maths department. For suitably experienced candidates, we are able to offer the opportunity to teach lessons at Comberton Sixth Form. This could be teaching a class from our large cohort of A Level Maths or Further Maths pupils. As early adopters of the Core Maths qualification you could also teach this exciting new course.

SCITT Primary Administrator

We need an efficient administrator and effective communicator to coordinate the administrative process for recruitment into the Primary School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) course, run by the Cambridge Teaching School Network (CTSN).

Teacher of Physical Education

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Physical Education and the health and well-being of young people. Someone who will contribute to the outstanding teaching and learning within the PE department.  The successful candidate needs to be hard working, an excellent practitioner who has initiative and good communication skills.  We have an extensive extra-curricular programme which they will contribute to.  There is potential for some leadership responsibility within the department for an appropriately experienced candidate.

Teacher of Business and Economics

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Business and Economics who has good subject knowledge, able to teach business and economics to KS5.  

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of the National Curriculum in business and economics together with successful teaching skills, including use of ICT.

For candidates also considering the post of BTEC coordinator (KS4, KS5), we are looking for a dynamic and motivated specialist to support our highly successful, skilled and experienced team of BTEC programme leaders.

Teaching Assistants - Cabin

To work from the Cabin integrating students with Autistic Spectrum Condition into mainstream education and to raise their standard of achievement.

The successful candidates will have a minimum of 5 GCSE grade Cs including English and Maths and will offer specialised support to a range of students including some on the Autistic spectrum. A willingness to participate in PE activities will be an advantage.

The position could provide valuable experience for those wishing to enter the teaching profession.
