Comberton achieves Gold!
10th July 2019
It is with great pleasure and immense pride that I am sharing the excellent news that Comberton Village College has recently gained the Rights Respecting Schools GOLD Award.
CVC was assessed by Frances Bestley ( Director for RRSA) and Sophie Gallois (Deputy Director) on Wednesday 19th June. The assessment day included a meeting with Marielle Burgess ( RRSA Coordinator), Peter Law ( Principal) and Sean Sycamore ( Deputy Principal); a meeting with staff, governors and parents; visiting lessons and learning walks. It also included two pupils’ panels during which Frances and Sophie spoke to students about their experience of Rights Respecting at CVC. Following the assessment day, Frances wrote the following:
“I am pleased to confirm that the Accreditation and Standards Committee agree that sufficient evidence was provided in the report to award Comberton Village College Unicef UK’s Rights Respecting School Award at Gold: Rights Respecting”.
The school will be receiving a banner which we will proudly display at the front of the school in September. The accreditation lasts for 3 years and we are of course committed to ensuring that CVC continues to work hard at promoting children’s rights as listed in the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.
We already have some ideas of new initiatives we will want to run next academic year and we will inform you of those in due course.
I would like to thank everyone here at CVC and out in the wider community for your support with CVC gaining Gold.
